(LA)HORDE x Lucinda Childs x Lasseindra Ninja

(LA)HORDE, a collective of choreographers, who have become co-directors of the Ballet National de Marseille in 2019, is the revolution that all dance enthusiasts are talking about in Europe. A multiple practice and a global vision, (LA)HORDE explores new territories to meet new audiences. They make videos, create installations and collaborate with the fashion industry.

At the Ballet national de Marseille, (LA)HORDE acts as an energy catalyst. They receive for a plural pro- gram the choreographers Tania Carvalho, Lucinda Childs, Oona Doherty, Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale of Dance in 2021, and Lasseindra Ninja.

For a conversation, Mehdi Dakhli met via zoom with (LA)HORDE and the antagonists, Lucinda Childs, legend of choreographic minimalism and Lasseindra Ninja, icon of the Parisian ballroom scene. We talked about the challenges to be met for the world of performing arts, the new relationship to the body due to the pandemic, and the immaterialization of their artistic practice due to the advent of new technologies.
